The compressive strength of Pekkton® ivory is comparable to human dentine and cortical bone and allows better biochemical integration than typical non-precious metals.
Question: Can material be reused?
Answer: No. Too much effort would be involved in cleaning the material properly. Risk of impurity inclusions.
Question: What composite veneering materials can I use?
Answer: Pekkton® ivory was successfully tested with various veneering composites, including SR Nexco (Ivoclar Vivadent), Gradia (GC), Ceramage (Shofu), VitaVM LC (Vita Zahnfabrik), anaxblend and anaxflow (anaxdent), S.LAY (WEGOLD Edelmetalle) and Signum (Heraeus Kulzer).
Question: If a bridge doesn’t fit, can it be separated and rejoined?
Answer: No, this is not possible.
Question: How good is the precision?
Answer: The precision of single crowns is between 20 μm and 50 μm so it meets the clinical requirements of 50 μm to 120 μm maximum. However, precision always depends on how accurately the dental technician works.
Question: What is the difference between Pekkton® and PEEK?

Question: Indication for a removable restoration: can removable prostheses (model casting) be realized with clasps? If yes, under what conditions?
Answer: For dental applications, Pekkton® ivory is the most stable high-performance polymer on the market and ideal for fixed restorations. Due to its outstanding properties, the material is also an excellent choice in cases where a removable restoration is indicated. Compared to PEEK, however, Pekkton® ivory is less flexible. Due to the current lack of clinical experience using clasp prostheses, we do not recommend this indication at this time.
Question: Wax weight?
Answer: You can press up to 0,6g wax with a Pekkton® ivory press ingot (1g).
Question: What is the situation regarding the formation of biofilm?
Answer: Results always depend on surface roughness. If surface quality is comparable, biofilm formation on high-performance polymers is less than on metal alloys, but slightly more than on ceramics.
Question: Regarding bridges, how many units are possible?
Answer: State of development today: With Pekkton® ivory, screw-retained bridges on implants (bonded to titanium bases) with maximum two pontics in the anterior and posterior region can be fabricated. Bridges on natural teeth with maximum one pontic.
Question: What is the shrinkage of Pekkton® ivory?
Answer: ≈ 1.3 % (volume).
Question: Why is Pekkton® ivory darker/grayer than competitor products?
Answer: The focus of development was its chemical and mechanical properties, not the color. Any change to the color, similar to that of competitor products, would be at the expense of its excellent properties. The whitish-gray color is neutral and provides the ideal basis for reproducing the desired tooth shade.
Question: Can the residual material from milling blanks that are no longer suitable for use be utilized for the pressing technique?
Answer: Practice has shown that metal shavings or other impurities can build up after milling pure, implant-quality Pekkton® ivory. To maintain the high standard of quality and for reasons of traceability, we advise against the reuse of residual materials.
